FAQ
What
is the difference between a home performance analysis and
a home inspection?
A home inspection
is primarily a tool to provide a prospective homeowner with
information about a house’s condition in order to
make an informed purchasing decision.
A
home performance analysis
examines the interaction of mechanical systems and the occupants
of the home. The end result is specific recommendations
to improve the safety, comfort and energy efficiency of
the home.
The
Absolute Home Performance analysis follows the standards
of the Building Performance Institute (www.BPI.org), an
organization supporting the development of the building
performance industry through individual and organizational
credentialing and a rigorous quality assurance program.
We are certified by BPI as trained in relevant areas such
as Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning and building
structure. We are accredited by BPI to participate in programs
based on that training.
What
is the difference between what Absolute Home Performance does
and what other companies do? Some
companies offer low-cost or even free home energy audits.
They hope to get your business by selling you windows, insulation,
a furnace or some other combination of improvements.
We believe it
is better for the homeowner to have a comprehensive package
of improvements recommended by a certified technician with
experience in the field as a technician, building inspector,
and building science trainer rather than by a salesperson
who works on commission.
Absolute Home
Performance is not affiliated with any home improvement
or contracting company. We have nothing to sell you but
our experience and knowledge in home building efficiency.
A high
quality home performance analysis should reflect the training,
commitment, and experience of the analyst. One rarely knows
much about the actual qualifications of the person who proposes
improvements to his or her house. The qualifications of
our Technical Director speak for itself (read
them here ).
Who
should call Absolute Home Performance? Our
service may not be right for everyone, but if you have read
this far it may be right for you.
Experts
in the field generally agree that most (if not virtually
all) of the existing housing stock would benefit from thorough
performance evaluation and testing. Even many new homes
leave room for improvement beyond the minimum standards
required by building codes.
A better alternative
As
an unbiased, independent consultant, Absolute Home Performance
can make evaluations and recommendations that are not influenced
by salespersons' commissions or contractors' marketing strategies.
Our only influence is what is best for your home and lifestyle.
